Using Your Gizmos Trial

Part 1 of 3: Welcome to Gizmos!

Thanks for your recent free trial activation on ExploreLearning.com!

We hope you're already becoming a "power user" with your Gizmos Free Trial, but just in case you're still getting started, we have some tips and tricks for you.

If you have not done so already, you may want to watch our "Getting Started with Gizmos" video. In just a few minutes, it will orient you to the site so that you can get the most out of your time with Gizmos.

Using Gizmos

Growing PlantsSo, what are Gizmos? Gizmos are interactive simulations that teach concepts through exploration and inquiry. Gizmos can be used to introduce new concepts, practice skills, extend investigations, and review for tests.

Unlike many simulations, Gizmos are open-ended and designed to encourage experimentation. For example, in the Growing Plants Gizmo, students can vary the light, amount of water, and soil conditions for each seed they plant. As they find the conditions that yield the largest plants, students will discover on their own the importance of controlling variables.
